Sweet 16 Session

Jewel was my client for this sweet 16 session. I met this lovely family to capture Jewel and her huge personality as a fun-loving 16 year old who is an aspiring dancer.

She is one of those subjects who is naturally beautiful and, being a dancer, most of the posing fell into place. The family also came with a vision. Magic happens when you can collaborate with your clients as we did for this session.  We had a beautiful day, perfect light, and great chemistry – a recipe for success, for sure!

We shot this session on a very bustling Sunday in Historic Downtown McKinney and Dallas Arboretum. It was the first beautiful day of the year, so everyone was out and about.

On the streets in McKinney, a town north of Dallas, Texas, I included people in the background to add depth and interest. However, we shot tight at the Dallas Arboretum and kept to the natural surroundings even though we had to contend with crowds there, too.

I shot mostly on 70-200mm 2.8L as it is my favorite lens for portraits, but I also used 50mm 1.2L and at one point I used 16-35mm 2.8L when we were in tight spaces or when we did stop action shots.
