Jewelry Photography Session
This jewelry photography session features gorgeous jewelry and the designer who created the pieces. Chelsea Nattiel Sherman has been a close family friend for over ten years. She has always dabbled in jewelry design (as well as many other forms of artistic expression) but only recently has taken her craftsmanship to the next level. As a good friend and photographer I was happy to shoot some of her first collections. We generally begin with a few pieces of inspiration but don’t restrict ourselves. We prefer to work more spontaneously together! These portraits are of Chelsea, the designer herself, wearing her very own pieces. I used an Elinchrom Octa Softbox with a Profoto light and shot against a dark grey seamless backdrop. Click here to see Chelsea’s etsy store: Hare and Hawkeye.

Karly prefers to work in black and white, always. It relays a message (be it visual or conceptual) that, she believes, color often dilutes or delays. Although, there are rare moments when she does find color is necessary. As far as subjects are concerned…people. She is interested in photographing anyone and everyone. Lastly, light. Karly is tempted to say light is the most definitive part of a photograph. A minor change in light will evoke a feeling otherwise dismissed, no matter how intriguing the subject matter or location. Currently based in Durango, Colorado. Traveling near & far. See her website here.
