Child Styled Shoot

I met Kenza through the drama school that I teach at on Saturday. I knew I had to photograph her for my child styled shoot! At just 3 years old, she has the maturity, dance moves, and creativity of a much older child. She has that “special something”. I contacted her mum and asked if she would be interested in allowing me to photograph Kenza in a styled photo shoot. I explained the style and theme that I wanted. Her mum couldn’t have been more excited about the thought of colour, vintage, a teepee, and the lovely autumn sun!

Kenza is always a stylish girl so I asked her mum to send me pictures of any outfits she might have already that she thought would go with the style I was going for. It just so happened that she had ordered the most perfect outfit the week before. When I saw it, I knew instantly that it would suit the shoot. Imagine finding a mum that had the exact style taste you needed. I had struck gold!

Finally, the day arrived and I set up camp (literally), built the teepee, set up suitcases, added in little vintage elements like the rag bunting I had made the previous week, and made sure there was plenty for Kenza to explore. It was late afternoon and the Northern Irish weather was being kind by letting the beautiful autumn sun shine.

When Kenza arrived, she was instantly blown away by all the colour and props. I just love that young kids are so animated and full of wonder at the world around them. I immediately started snapping and let Kenza explore and play. She loved it – especially the suitcases in the trees, the specially made flower crown, and the bubbles!
